About Shepherd's Wallet

The Divine Assignment That Changed Everything

"Cover financially those who cover us spiritually."

This phrase came to me in prayer in 2023, gentle but unmistakable. It wasn't just a calling—it was a complete transformation of everything I thought my career would be.

I had entered financial services in 2021 with a heart to help people find clarity, confidence, and peace in their financial lives. But as I sat in prayer that day, I sensed the Lord's firm direction toward something far more specific: an exclusive focus on serving those who shepherd His people.

That divine assignment gave birth to Shepherd's Wallet.

A Crisis Hidden in Plain Sight

Having spent over 20 years in ministry as a worship leader and church board member, I thought I understood the challenges pastors faced. I had served faithfully in small churches, worked closely with senior pastors, treasurers, and staff. I had seen the dedication, the sacrifice, the heart for ministry that drives these faithful servants.

But as I began researching the financial landscape for pastors, I was shocked by what I discovered.

Ninety percent of pastors feel financial stress. Seventy-six percent know other pastors who left ministry due to financial pressures. These servants of God—who face some of the most complex financial situations of any profession—were suffering in silence with virtually no resources designed specifically for their unique needs.

Pastors are both employee AND self-employed for tax purposes. They navigate housing allowances, SECA taxes, denominational pensions, and retirement planning with systems designed for everyone except them. They're expected to be financial stewards while receiving little to no financial education in seminary. They serve churches that often don't understand how to properly compensate ministry staff.

The complexity isn't punishment for answering God's call—it's an unintended consequence of tax system changes over decades. But the lack of targeted guidance was leaving faithful shepherds financially vulnerable, forcing many to make ministry decisions based on salary considerations rather than calling.

I saw in this gap both an opportunity and a divine assignment.

From Calling to Movement

What began as a personal calling has grown into something much larger—a movement to transform how pastors approach their financial lives.

Shepherd's Wallet isn't just a financial coaching business. It's a comprehensive ecosystem designed to meet pastors wherever they are in their financial journey:

  • Individual coaching programs for intensive, personalized implementation

  • Community membership for ongoing education and peer support

  • Group training programs for cost-effective learning with accountability

  • Institutional partnerships with denominations and seminaries

  • Educational resources including the first comprehensive book written specifically for pastoral finances

Sacred Capital: Where Calling Meets Stewardship

At the heart of everything we do is a philosophy I call Sacred Capital—the understanding that for pastors, money isn't just money. It's the physical manifestation of God’s prompting on faithful and obedient souls to support His Kingdom—the generous gifts of God's people who support your ministry. It's the provision that enables you to fulfill your calling. It's a stewardship responsibility that extends far beyond personal financial success.

This Sacred Capital deserves sacred attention—careful, intentional management that honors both the giver and the calling. But it also deserves to be free from sacred anxiety. God isn't asking you to figure this out alone or to sacrifice your family's financial well-being for ministry effectiveness.

Building Community, Creating Change

Beyond individual coaching and education, I'm passionate about building the Sacred Capital community—a space where pastors can connect with fellow ministers on their journey toward biblical financial stewardship. This community provides much-needed education, guidance, and empowerment through monthly workshops, peer support, and specialized training designed specifically for ministry contexts.

Whether working with individual pastoral families, training denominational leaders, or developing curriculum for seminaries, my goal remains consistent: enabling faithful shepherds to fulfill their calling with financial confidence and freedom.

The Mission That Drives Everything

My approach integrates sophisticated financial strategies with biblical stewardship principles, helping pastors navigate complex decisions while maintaining their calling-first perspective. Whether working with individual pastoral families or providing institutional training for denominations and seminaries, my goal remains consistent:

Enabling faithful shepherds to fulfill their calling with financial confidence and freedom.

This mission is deeply rooted in 1 Timothy 5:17-18—providing financial covering for those who provide spiritual covering. My years of ministry alongside pastors have shown me how they and their families sacrifice to shepherd their flocks. This experience has shaped my conviction that ministers should be well compensated and financially secure so they can focus fully on their calling.

The Ripple Effect of Financial Freedom

When pastors are financially healthy:

  • Churches are stronger because their leaders can focus on ministry rather than financial stress

  • Families are healthier because financial anxiety isn't poisoning family relationships

  • Ministry is more effective because calling-driven decisions replace salary-driven compromises

  • The Kingdom advances because God's servants are free to serve where He leads

This is bigger than financial coaching—it's about enabling faithful ministry for generations to come.
